Of Service Foundation

Of Service Foundation Inc.

Of Service Foundation Inc. was born from a journey that began with a single question: What happens when we truly see one another?

Created by artist and author Jenani Therone, Of Service began not as a campaign, but as a conversation—one carried across 36,000 kilometres, 6,000 volunteer hours, and through the quiet courage of 101 Australian veterans who shared their stories not in uniform, but in truth.

The Of Service Foundation is the natural next step—a formal structure to hold and extend the deeply personal, nationally resonant work of Of Service. It exists not to replace the art, but to carry its message further: into schools, libraries, RSLs, and communities where remembrance and mental wellbeing deserve continued space, care, and creative engagement.

Values

Our Purpose?

  • To bring connection, hope, and reflection into the spaces where they are most needed—through art that listens before it speaks.
  • To honour the emotional truth of service—not only in uniform, but in life after it—through stories that bridge generations and communities.
  • To create safe, human-centred opportunities for dialogue around mental health, suicide prevention, and resilience—without stigma.
  • To extend the reach of meaningful storytelling into schools, libraries, RSLs, and public spaces—through community-led engagement.
  • To uphold the artistic direction and integrity of Jenani Therone—ensuring all initiatives remain rooted in care, creativity, and connection.

Our Values?

  • Care without performance – We listen before we speak, and act with compassion rather than optics.
  • Hope without false promises – We offer stories, not solutions, and hold space for healing.
  • Art as an offering—not a product – Every project is created with integrity, purpose, and human dignity.
  • Remembrance with reach – We honour memory by actively engaging the living.
  • Trust through action – Our commitments are measured not in words, but in follow-through.

Because connection deserves a second chance. We plan to…

  • Distribute the Of Service fine art publication nationally, placing it where it is needed most
  • Facilitate author talks, school visits, and community events that encourage reflection, resilience, and dialogue
  • Support future editions and storytelling formats grounded in trust, dignity, and care
  • Provide a quiet space—online and offline—for voices that have long been unheard
  • Build collaborative partnerships to promote mental health, suicide prevention, and a culture of remembrance

Walk With Us – Help Us Carry the Light

Of Service Foundation was not built on systems—it was built on trust. One story. One conversation. One step at a time.
If this work speaks to you—if you believe in the quiet power of art to heal, connect, and offer second chances—there are meaningful ways to walk alongside us:

  • Purchase the Of Service book or an Of Service Candle
Every purchase supports our national outreach, school programs, and public conversations.
  • Share the story
A simple share—a conversation, a post, a mention—can carry hope further than we ever could alone.
  • Invite us to share our journey
We welcome invitations to speak to community groups, libraries, and events where connection matters.
  • Support future works
Help us continue the journey through new creative projects—crafted with care, led by lived experience, and built for impact.
  • Contribute to our mission
Whether through donation, partnership, or advocacy, your support fuels the Foundation’s work in reaching those who need it most.

Of Service, the project and the foundation, were created without institutional funding—built on faith, volunteer labour, and the belief that art, when offered with care, can change the way we see each other.

The Foundation ensures that belief continues to find its way across the country.

To Support

Your support helps us extend the reach of Of Service—bringing stories of service, strength, and hope to communities across the country. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us carry this light further.

Yes I spent a most wonderful afternoon with two great Australians. Such great company and it was my first opportunity to peruse ‘Of Service‘, WOW, indeed it is a fine art production of the highest quality, this also extends to the amazing printed word. The expansive forward by Brendan Nelson is gripping in its content. How proud Jenani must be to hold in her hands one of the finest publications that I have ever seen and realize that it is her creation. People now have the opportunity to purchase and I urge them to grasp it while they can. On an intimate and personal note, as I gazed at my late Uncles photos and read his description l was moved in the hope that he was gazing down in the realisation that his sacrifice was recognised in such a noble manner.
